The Live Painting Experience
A live wedding painting brings the people, setting, atmosphere, and meaningful details of your celebration together into one thoughtfully composed work of art.
Before your wedding, we’ll talk about what matters most to you, while my background in visual storytelling guides the final composition. On the day, I’ll arrive early to begin painting and continue throughout the celebration. It also becomes part of the experience itself, giving your guests something fun and unexpected to stop by, watch, and revisit as the painting takes shape throughout the evening.
Before the night ends, you’ll get your first look. From there, the painting returns with me to the studio, where I refine the details, color, and light with additional acrylic and oil layers.
Approximately eight weeks later, your finished painting will be sealed and ready to hang, a one-of-a-kind piece of art created from your wedding day.

F.A.Q.

Professional grade acrylic and oil paints on either gallery canvas or sealed wood canvas (depending on package)

Ideally a 5x5 location positioned in the shade (if outside) near an outlet if possible so I can have my tablet available. I do have a battery backup if needed.
I will supply the canvas, easel, table and paints.

Absolutely! If your pet cannot attend the event where I can capture a reference photo of them, you are welcome to email me some reference photos of your pet and I would be happy to add them into the image at no extra fee.

If you have a beloved family member or friend who will not be able to attend your event for one reason or another, you can absolutely include them into your painting. I will need several reference photos of the person to learn how they look. Humans are more complicated and take extra time to create on canvas than pets so there is an extra fee of $200 per person for this service.

Absolutely. The following explains the travel policy which helps to ensure your artist arrives rested and ready to create a beautiful masterpiece for your event.
Mileage Fee
There is 100 miles of round-trip travel included into every package for free (50 miles each way from Washougal, WA). For any distance beyond that, there is a standard rate of $1.50 per mile for the billable portion of the trip.
Hotel Stays ($300/night)
For long-distance events, a hotel stay is required to ensure your artist is prepared for the event day:
Over 100 miles away: Requires at least 1 hotel night.
Over 150 miles away: Requires at least 2 hotel nights.
The hotel fee is completely waived if lodging is provided for the artist.
Flights & Destination Events
For events over 350 miles away, travel requires flights and special logistics.

Hi, I’m Jess! I’m an artist, storyteller, and firm believer that some moments deserve more than a spot in your camera roll. I say this of course speaking as a wedding photographer with 20 years experience capturing weddings and live events and with a BA from the USC School of Cinema-Television. I have been an artist since I can remember and drawing and painting were my first obsession. I am currently working on obtaining my MFA in Illustration from SCAD to help further my knowledge and love of visual narration.
Painting weddings live, capturing the people, personality, and feeling of the day as it happens is a pure joy and something I absolutely love doing. As you enjoy the party, I’ll be happily celebrating with you from my little corner of the room, joyfully interacting with your guests as they curiously watch the process of your image come to life and capturing a genuine work of art in process!
